New Tampa, just a few miles northeast of downtown Tampa, is fast becoming an array of master-planned urban communities and each community provides a broad range of housing choices to suit a wide range of lifestyles. Housing choices include but not limited to condos, town homes, golf-course villas and waterside estates. Most of these communities are gated and provide 24-hour security. It is trendy amongst upper-class families who are rearing kids. Its nearness to office parks also draws young unmarried people working in the insurance, financial and telecommunication sectors.
Parks and Recreation
New Tampa also has a number of Private and public nature parks, such as the Lettuce Lake Park along the Hillsborough River and Flatwoods Wilderness Park. Activities at the parks include fishing, hiking trails, canoeing trails and other recreational activities such as golf, tennis, swimming and bicycling.

Smaller homes in New Tampa costs a little above $100,000 while custom-made estate homes could exceed $1million. Large modern homes with open floor plans are preferred by builders with the normal Four-bedroom, two-bath home priced at $260,000 with 2,700 square feet sitting on an 11,000-square-foot lot. Renting a two-bedroom townhouse apartment here costs about $1000 while standard homes go for $1,300 to $2,100 per month.
Schools, Health & Transportation
The Hillsborough County Public Schools serves the New Tampa communities as well. In the year 200, the Department of Education, Florida ranked elementary and middle schools in New Tampa as grade A schools.
The University of South Florida, which happens to be the second largest university in the Southeast is just a few minute drive from New Tampa.
Population increase in New Tampa is not proportional to its road networks and as such Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, the city’s main route, during rush hour is usually overcrowded with vehicles almost touching each other. However, its nearness to Interstate 75 still makes it a 30-minute drive to downtown Tampa.
